The Department of Space (DoS) is an Indian government department responsible for administration of the Indian space program. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is the primary research and development arm of the DoS. The other agencies of the Department of Space (DOS) include the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NE-SAC) and the Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL). The Indian Space programme under the DoS aims to promote the development and application of space science and technology for the socio-economic benefit of the country. It includes two major satellite systems, INSAT for communication, television broadcasting and meteorological services, and Indian Remote Sensing Satellites (IRS) system for resources monitoring and management. It has also developed two satellite launch vehicles, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), to place IRS and INSAT class satellites in orbit. Australian Space Agency not based on NASA. nasa routinely operates at a staggering loss. It undercuts private companies in the satellite launch business just to keep the competition out. This is taxpayer funded and equivalent to monopolising the industry. It is the reason why nothing of consequence has happened in space exploration in over 30 years. Down with NASA. It is not a necessary government department. The private sector could do a tenfold better job. Asked by Mick D - Fri Oct 3 02:54:05 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. NASA is not a business. The notion of it "operating at a loss" is simply meaningless. NASA does not launch private satellites, nor does it wish to. The private sector is compelled to attempt to make a profit. Exploration such as that done by the Mars rovers is not profitable and is therefore not something private companies undertake. Much pure scientific research is funded by the government rather that private industry, so as to make the results useful to everyone. The reasons why U.S. space exploration has stagnated is because the American public has not seen fit to direct its space agency toward ambitious goals. NASA has lobbied extensively for more money to explore the galaxy. Answered by Clavius - Fri Oct 3 11:14:03 2008 4th Amendment under threat of space spying? Q. U.S. Plans to Use Spy Satellites for Domestic Surveillance The Bush administration's plan to conduct domestic surveillance by using spy satellites is facing opposition on Capitol Hill. House Homeland Security Committee Chair Bennie Thompson has warned the Department of Homeland Security that Congress plans to closely oversee the program. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell has greatly expanded the range of federal and local authorities who can get access to information from the nation's vast network of spy satellites. According to officials, the spy satellites will be used in part to monitor the nation's borders and to aid federal and local law-enforcement agencies. From reading your own question - it is obvious that these satellites will be used to monitor public areas. Why should we have a problem with this considering that there is no expectation of privacy when you are in a public area? BTW - I regard this story as a big deal about nothing. Nobody is going to allow a billion-dollar spy satellite to be tasked to look for a couple of illegal immigrants. Answered by MikeGolf - Thu Aug 23 11:59:48 2007 Where can I find a 67 hour wildland firefighter academy?
Q. I've looked and looked but am having trouble finding a college or fire department that offers this academy. I am planning on applying to Calfire this coming summer as a seasonal firefighter. I already have my confined space rescue awarness and am enrolled in a hazmat fro class. Asked by eishosuzuki - Thu Dec 4 02:37:07 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Depending on where you live, you can go to your local fire academy and ask if you could participate in the 67 hour part of the academy and just pay for that week. Also you can go talk to someone from your local station and ask them if they know of anyway to get it. Answered by hozr56 - Sat Dec 6 08:54:06 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Department of Space"
