A space simulator is a system that tries to replicate or simulate outer space and/or the experience of space flight in a spacecraft as closely and realistically as possible. This includes full-size cockpit replicas mounted on hydraulic rams, controlled by state of the art computer technology or elaborate watertanks for simulation of weightlessness. Space flight simulators are used almost solely by the aerospace industry and the military for cosmonaut/astronaut training, disaster simulation and spacecraft design. There are also devices which are used by scientists to study the environment of outer space, such as the Large Space Simulator at the European Space Research and Technology Centre; as well as astrophysics, such as The Space Simulator at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Q. No stealing This one is about teenagers training to be space marshalls (kind of like cops for the galaxy). This bit is right at the beginning when they are still preparing for that dreaded exam --- The trainee pilot desperately tried to weave the ship in and out of the asteroids. She kept her eye pealed for asteroids. The whole ship shook and jerked violently as it hit an asteroid. Warning; Damage level critical, came the smooth, unchanging female system voice of the ship. The warning siren sounded in the cockpit as the ship became increasingly difficult to control. She knew this was the end. She closed her eyes and hoped for the best. I thought she's...driving...and evading...the asteroids. 2. 'smooth, unchanging female system voice'... perhaps monotonous/metallic/apath etic might be more suggestive? 3. 'She appeared to be deep in thought'... a simple word 'pensive' or 'thoughtful' or 'ruminating' might do? Your scenes might seem a bit too brief if this is going to make up for the entire chapter :O.
