Jeffrey Scott Buckley (November 17, 1966 – May 29, 1997), raised as Scotty Moorhead, was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was the son of Tim Buckley, also a musician. After a decade as guitarist-for-hire in Los Angeles, Buckley gained popularity in the early 1990s by playing cover songs at venues in Manhattan's East Village, such as Sin-é, gradually focusing more on his own material. After rebuffing much interest from record labels and his father's manager Herb Cohen, he signed with Columbia, recruited a band, and recorded what would be his only studio album, Grace.

Over the following two years, the band toured widely to promote the album, including concerts in the U.S., Europe, Japan and Australia. In 1996, they stopped touring and in 1997 moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to experiment with new material for a second album, recording many four-track demos and completing his third recording session for his new album with his band, with Tom Verlaine as producer. While awaiting the arrival of his band from New York, he drowned during an evening swim in the Wolf River. His body was found on June 4, 1997.

Since his death, there have been many posthumous releases of his material, including a collection of four-track demos and studio recordings for his unfinished second album My Sweetheart the Drunk and expansions of debut album Grace and his Live at Sin-é EP. Chart success also came posthumously; with Leonard Cohen's song, "Hallelujah" he attained his first #1 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs in March 2008 and reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart at Christmas 2008. Buckley and his work remain popular and are regularly featured in 'greatest' lists in the music press.

Where Can I Find Jeff Buckley's Video for Last Goodbye?
Q. I don't mean the ones on Youtube, I mean the actual avi video from the record company? I haven't seen the video on any video music channel at all and I'm shocked, cause its such a good song.

A. Hi there -The actual official video for Last Goodbye is available to watch on YouTube, but I would recommend buying 'Grace - Legacy Edition' if you want your own personal copy. Apart from having two glorious cd's, it also has a dvd with all Jeff's official videos (Grace, Last Goodbye, So Real, Forget Her and Eternal Life) it also has the Grace EPK which is well worth a watch. I highly recommend this and it will be worth every penny trust me!! You'll be lucky to see Last Goodbye or any Jeff for that matter on the TV as it was released YEARS ago. good luck :-)

Poem similar to Jeff Buckley's song Hallelujah?
Q. For English I have a poetry project comparing a song and a poem. Any suggestions help, since I am having a great deal of difficulty figuring out what to look up as regards this matter. Maybe sad poetry, bittersweet poetry about love and regrets?

A. AMAZING song... I would try to find a spiritual poem about broken love. I will google some, if I find anything, I will be back. Christine...Leonard Cohen was the original writer, Jeff Buckley made it the amazing, powerful, breathtaking song it became. It is really a song that can be taken in many ways, on many different levels, but this is the best description I can find of the song, that may help you... A lot of people have speculated on the meaning of this song. Someone said he knew for a fact what it was about, but wouldn't tell anyone because he didn't want anyone to stop liking the song. That person presumably thinks this song is about sex. An earlier analysis said the same thing, except explicitly. Of course, it is partly about… [cont.]

When and where did Jeff Buckley say this?
Q. I found a phrase that was supposedly said by Jeff Buckley. Can anyone tell me if he did in fact say this and under what circumstances? "Be the best. no negativity, no weakness, no aquiescence to fear or disaster, no errors of ignorance, no evasion from reality. " thanks.

A. Yes he sure did. It's like one of my favorite quotes ever. I have included one of the links available for more info on Jeff... Here is the beginning of that conversation... "The thing is that I want it all next week, right now, this millisecond. The leader, the instigator, the creator, the cold origination; life should sparkle and rush, burn with fire, hot like melting steel, like freeze-burn from a comet. Be seriously involved with growing, with your own development, and never fear. Be the kind of person who is naturally powerful, positive, ingenious, open, to the highest degree, but with no interest in coersion or pressure or power over other people. That kind of power is hollow. It contains nothing and brings you nothing in the long… [cont.]
