Yale University is a private research university in New Haven, Connecticut, and a member of the Ivy League. Founded in 1701 in the Colony of Connecticut, the university is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. Yale has produced many notable alumni, including five U.S. presidents, nineteen U.S. Supreme Court Justices, and several foreign heads of state. Incorporated as the Collegiate School, the institution traces its roots to 17th-century clergymen who sought to establish a college to train clergy and political leaders for the colony. In 1718, the College was renamed Yale College to honor a gift from Elihu Yale, a governor of the British East India Company. In 1861, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences became the first U.S. school to award the Ph.D. Yale College was transformed, beginning in the 1930s, through the establishment of residential colleges: 12 now exist and two more are planned. Almost all tenured professors teach undergraduate courses, more than 2,000 of which are offered annually. The University's assets include a US$16.3 billion endowment, the second largest of any academic institution, as well as the second largest academic library in the world, with some 12.5 million volumes held in more than two dozen libraries. Yale and Harvard have been rivals in academics, athletics, and other activities for most of their history, competing annually in The Game and the Harvard-Yale Regatta. From Wikipedia under the

My friend went to Yale and she was good at everything Many people have the perception that you need to go to a high class private school with a history of past IV League students, but my friend went to a public school ... she took lots of AP courses in high school and whatever sport she did she somehow made it to varsity in every one. You need volunteer work, extra curricular activities, good grades...straight A's, a good SAT score, she was ranked one in her class, and lead her softball team into success Basically you need to be well rounded and you also need to acquire something that will make you stand out amongst all others with the "typical" good grades Answered by microvilla - Wed Aug 26 21:49:06 2009 How to get into Yale University?
Q. I am a high school junior. And I want to get into Yale. So far I've been getting 4.0, except this year: 3.9 something. I'm taking as much AP classes as I can, and trying to pass them if not earn college credit. I am in the total of 4 clubs and I consistently participate in them. I work (helping out with my family business) so I do not have time to do sport (sad!!). I am in Key Club so I do many community service and volunteering. During the summer, I plan to apply for the Junior Statesmen of America (the session at Yale), law camp in Los Angeles and in the fall, go on a trip to Washington DC for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law. I've got invited to all of those. Is this enough? Because I do not feel like it's enough.
