The MacBook Pro is a line of Macintosh portable computers by Apple Inc. that was introduced in January 2006 at the Macworld Expo. The MacBook Pro replaced the PowerBook G4 and was the second model to be announced in the Apple Intel transition (after the iMac). The MacBook Pro is positioned at the high end of the MacBook family. There have been two designs for the MacBook Pro, both using aluminium. The first design was largely a carry-over from the PowerBook G4. The second "unibody" design is a more tapered design with most of the casing made from a single block of aluminum. The unibody design was introduced in the 15" MacBook Pro in October 2008 during a notebook-oriented announcement, along with the 13" aluminum unibody MacBook. The 17" followed in January at the 2009 MacWorld Expo, also introducing the built-in battery which was later used in the rest of the MacBook Pro line in June at WWDC 2009 and in the MacBook in October 2009. The main difference in the 3 computers are the processor and the casing. Macbook is not made of aluminum but more like a hard plastic. It has a slightly slower processor and you can only upgrade to 4GB of RAM. Macbook Pro is made of precision unibody aluminum enclosure. The processor is one of the fastest you can get in a laptop. The screen bezel is also black to make the screen color pop and make watching movies more enhanced. It includes a SD card slot, Firewire 400 & 800. The RAM is upgradable to 8GB. Macbook Air is very light and thin. Good Processor and great keyboard and screen that's similar to the Macbook Pro. Q. My macbook pro runs at 54 with the fans at 4000RPM according to smcFanControl. Without smcFanControl, it reaches temperatures of over 80 Is this normal? What's normal? Asked by Guy - Wed Mar 25 22:55:07 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. 54C is quite acceptable but 80C, that's meltdown territory. Keep using your smc to keep the temperature down. Also never use your notebook on your lap or on a pillow or any insulating surfaces. When sitting at a desk, place something under the back of it just to raise it and let some airflow underneath to disperse the heat.
