is the transit country considered the first entry in the shengen countries?
Q. I am an Egyptian citizen and I went to the french Embassy to get the Schengen Visa I will go to France as a transit stop and then to frankfurt. Should I leave the Airport or it s ok to continue my trip to Frankfurt. in other words is the transit country considered the first entry in the shengen countries?

A. You have to undergo the immigration procedures at the first airport entry into the Schengen area which is France. Usaully arriving at the international arrival area (Terminal 2F) you will do the police and immigration formalities and continue your travel from terminal 2D on a so called "Schengen flight" without regular immigration or custom controls neither at the departure from France nor at the arrival in Frankfurt. How long will a package be in transit after it has reached my local fedex location?
Q. My package arrived at my local fedex location today at 10:44, at 3:11 it was in transit. How long should it take to arrive?

A. It depends on how it was shipped and where it was shipped to. FedEx has several different levels of service. They offer Next Day Delivery (but probably not from California to Europe). They also offer 2nd service and ground service. If you're shipping FedEx Priority Overnight,It's Next-business-day delivery by 10:30 a.m. to most U.S. addresses; by noon, 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. in remote areas; by noon, 1:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. FedEx Ground service: 1 5 business days within the contiguous U.S.; 3 7 business days to and from Alaska and Hawaii. FedEx Home is 1 5 business days within the contiguous U.S.; 3 7 business days to and from Alaska and Hawaii. This is all assuming, of course, that you're in the US...

How do people in large cities cope when transit systems do on strike?
Q. Do people in large cities facing transit strikes live in their offices, walk to and from work, carpool -- or what???

A. revert to cars and motorcycles if you have them. or bum a ride from a friend, or use bicycles, and skates if necessary. taxis are also available. for some of us, we call in sick. others have the option to work from home, still others can be transferred to job sites closer to their house. for the rest of us schmucks... with no other option, and required to be at work, welll... we have to walk.
